Two weekends ago I went on a hike with my old friend Matt. We hiked Mt. Lincoln starting at the Mt. Garfield trailhead. It was a beautiful hike. We heard coyotes yipping and howling coming from further into the book cliffs. As we watched we even saw two animals (one of them may or may not have been a coyote) running as small brown dots far away across the desert.
From there we walked more or less along the top of the book cliffs, eventually finding an easy route through a crack down to the base of the top, steep part of the cliffs. Then we made our way back towards the trail at the bottom of the caprock cliffs. Almost right at the trail is when we saw two wild horses. We just sat and watched the horses for a while before going back down.
