If you’re reading this, it means I’m on an airplane heading towards South Carolina. Over the next two weeks I’ll be helping a PhD student on her research project. The project involves alligator-human conflict mitigation and the work will be carried out on a golf course in South Carolina.
After that initial two weeks, I’m going to rent a car and drive through Georgia, stopping at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and other alligator habitat into South Florida. In Florida I hope to see not only alligators but American Crocodiles as well, in the Everglades but also at the Turkey Point nuclear plant where as many as 25% of the US population of American crocodiles live in cooling canals.
All of this travel is research for my upcoming book Tears for Crocodilia, which I’m to hand over to Westholme Publishing next June. Not sure how much time I’ll have to blog while off on this adventure and honestly I miss home, my wife, my dogs already. I hope it’s worth it.

Do enjoy your adventure, but please be safe.

There’s no life better than chasin’ gators! I’ll be in the Okefenokee Oct 22-24. If you’re there at that time, shoot me a message via WordPress. I’d love to meet and hear more about your book. William http://www.okefenokee.photography
