Eotriceratops!

I’ve been working on molding smaller parts of this Eotriceratops sp. skull at my job in western Colorado lately.

Eotriceratops sp. is very similar to the genus Triceratops sp., and indeed in 2010 Gregory S. Paul reclassified Eotriceratops xerinsularis to Triceratops xerinsularis, although other paleontologists haven’t followed his lead, instead keeping the Eotriceratops genus. Either way, this animal was a large ceratopsian living approximately 68.8 million years ago in the Maastrichtian age in the Cretaceous period, during the end of the Mesozoic era. Despite the ’eo’ in its name, this means Eotriceratops sp. was living near the end of the time of the dinosaurs.
